This unique flavor combo was requested by my BF for our 1 month anniversary. In return, he got me a personalized necklace with our names and birthstones. So sweet! Unfortunately, I irreparably stained his Formica countertop with maraschino cherry juice! So be sure to take precautions when preparing the pie.
Frozen Cherry Lemonade Pie
8 oz container Cool Whip, thawed and divided
10 oz jar maraschino cherries (You will use all of the cherries plus 8 tablespoons of the soaking liquid from the jar, divided.)
Graham cracker crust
20 oz can lemon pie filling, divided
Split Cool Whip equally into 3 bowls.
Combine 1/3 of the Cool Whip with all of the maraschino cherries plus 4 tablespoons of liquid from the cherries. (Reserve a couple cherries for garnish.)
Spread mixture in graham cracker crust.
Spread 1/2 of the lemon pie filling over top.
Combine the remaining 1/2 of the lemon pie filling with 1/3 of the Cool Whip.
Spread over top of lemon pie filling layer.
Combine remaining 1/3 of the Cool Whip with 4 tablespoons liquid from the maraschino cherries.
Mound on top of the pie in the center.
Top with reserved cherries, if desired.
Freeze for at least 1 hour.
