With the weather warming up, some are worrying about swimsuit season. I say why bother? It’s more like high time to be thinking about ice cream. This over-the-top boozy milkshake combines basically anything you could ever want or need in a dessert into one two-faced drink. On one side cake batter ice cream meets jelly beans, Starburst, white chocolate, sprinkles and some crazy fruity rainbow candy cane. On the other, chocolate hazelnut gelato mixes with vodka, truffles, Oreos, hot cocoa and mini chocolate chips. Dear God, what have I done? Enjoy them separately or all buddy-buddy.
The Nice side is centered around a limited edition Ben & Jerry’s ice cream flavor, Cake My Day. (See recipe for substitution, if necessary.) I picked it up on a whim as I’d originally been planning on mixing some funfetti cake mix with vanilla ice cream. But this is clearly the better option. Vanilla cake batter ice cream complete with cake bits, buttercream frosting and a raspberry swirl. Honestly, this ice cream didn’t need much help but you know how we roll here at SweetMeets. So I also added strawberry-flavored jelly beans and citrus-flavored Starburst fruit chews. Then I threw in that cake mix anyway plus some white chocolate, for good measure. This resulted in a pleasantly fruity, adorably pink cake batter shake that I garnished with tons of sprinkles and a fruity candy cane. She’s nice and sweet but still a little quirky.
The Naughty side may be a little rough around the edges but we still love her. I had seen a couple commercials for Breyer’s new line, Gelato Indulgences, and good job ad execs because you convinced me to buy a container. I used chocolate hazelnut flavor which comes with its own chocolate hazelnut sauce and convenient chocolate swirls on top. I amped it up by adding basically an entire box of specialty chocolates, some hot cocoa mix and a few filled cupcake Oreos that have both chocolate and vanilla filling. For a little bite, I also added a shot of chocolate and caramel flavored vodka. Then I dressed her up with a little hot fudge sauce, mini chocolate chips and a couple more truffles. She’s ready for a night on the town.
Who would’ve guessed two girls with such different tastes would become such good friends? They compliment each other so well. It’s a beautiful thing. Although, I think Naughty may be rubbing off on Nice a little…
