Gummy Bear Margarita Jigglers

Gummy Bear Margarita Jigglers 5

After our wildly successful Drunk Gummy Bears post, I’ve been looking for a way to combine my favorite alcoholic beverage with some colorful gummy candy. What is that beverage? A classic margarita, of course! Just imagine it. A fruity gummy bear packed with a fruity, sour tequila punch. They didn’t turn out quite as planned but these jiggly, pink squares are even better!

I stumbled onto this science magic after some trial and error. I made up a large pitcher of margaritas, mixed in a bunch of gummy bears and let it sit. After a few days, the gummy bears lost their color and quadrupled in size. Quite different from their interaction with vodka. But the liquid still tasted yummy so I didn’t give up! I ran the mix through a blender, creating a gelatinous slush and spread it in a pan. The next morning… Jello-reminiscent pink squares of gummy bear margaritas. Amazing!
